Mount Clemens staff report: MetroNet fiber, Wellington Crescent rehab and senior center maintenance

City staff provided several operational and project updates at the meeting.
Planning Commission action: Shipman said the Planning Commission approved a site plan for a 10-unit self-storage facility along Macomb Veil Drive.
Broadband: Shipman announced MetroNet will begin a large-scale fiber installation within the city; representatives are scheduled to appear at an Aug. 17 City Commission work session to discuss resident communications and restoration procedures. Shipman noted the Metro Act permit had been approved in April.
Wellington Crescent rehabilitation: Shipman said the contractor will begin removals during the week of July (noting an update that notices went out that day) and that saw-cutting and removals will start Thursday; he said notices were hand delivered to residents.
Senior services and facilities: Shipman reported most senior activities at 300 North Groesbeck are suspended until further notice while heating and cooling work is completed, and confirmed operations will resume once the work is finished. He also promoted upcoming community events and provided contact information for the recreation department.
Elections and access: Shipman reminded residents that early voting for the Aug. 4 primary runs July 25 through Aug. 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily at Mount Clemens City Hall, and provided clerk contact information for absentee ballot requests.
