The council approved the Nov. 19 minutes and accepted the town’s annual audit and financial report during its regular meeting.
At the start of the meeting the chair called for approval of minutes from Nov. 19; a motion to accept was moved and carried on an affirmative vote. The council then reviewed the annual audit; members noted recurring small issues such as the need to better track small tools and checks and balances in inventory procedures. After brief discussion, a motion to accept the audit and financial report was made, seconded and approved by roll call.
Public works and finance staff said the town has run at a deficit in recent years in the water fund largely because of a large payment for the water tower, but staff expects the budget position to improve next year without that one-time payment. Council members asked staff to continue refining rate and capital recommendations.
The meeting moved on to first readings of ordinances and other business.
