The Newton Public Facilities Committee on July 22 approved an Eversource petition to install and maintain approximately 60 feet of underground conduit southerly from an existing pole and an additional roughly 400 feet of conduit, plus a new manhole (MH 332916), to serve 75 Prescott Street, a property converted to four residential units.
Joanne Callender, representing Eversource, said the work is to provide underground service to 75 Prescott Street. Property owner Mike Stuttchens said the transformer location appeared on the special‑permit site plan and confirmed the transformer will be placed on private property and is not in a setback.
The committee opened the public hearing, heard no public comment, closed the hearing and then moved to approve the grant location. The motion to approve was made by Councilor Albright; the committee approved the petition with one abstention.
Next steps: staff will file the grant location as approved and Eversource will proceed with the underground conduit and manhole work per the approved location and site plan.
