The Athens City Council on June 22 approved four Chapter 380 economic development agreements with JAB Realty Investments to support construction of single-family homes on Lots 8, 9, 10 and 11 in the R.C. Fisher Estates neighborhood.
City Manager Elizabeth Borstad said the lots have utility services in place and described the agreements’ terms: each lot will be sold for $1, the purchaser must submit building plans within 30 days of closing, pour a concrete slab within three months and complete construction within nine months. Borstad said the agreements replace an earlier $15,000 incentive and that, for these homes, a carport or garage will be permitted if constructed as an integral part of the dwelling.
Council members approved each resolution unanimously. The city recorded the motions for Lots 8–11 separately but considered the items together because they share identical terms and the same developer.
