Athens council approves application for $21 million TWDB water infrastructure grant

City Manager Elizabeth Borstad told council the application would target improvements to the city’s water system infrastructure and that the application scoring is heavily weighted toward disadvantaged communities. She said applications are due July 30 and she expects award announcements in the late October–November timeframe.
Council approved the resolution without opposition, granting staff authority to proceed with the submittal and required findings in the application packet.
