Later in the meeting, Cllr Jones moved and Cllr Medeiros seconded a motion allowing the town manager to solicit bids for roof replacements for Town Hall and the Workshop; that motion also passed 3-1 with Cllr Deaderick opposed.
The council approved its consent agenda, which included minutes and financials, on a unanimous vote after Cllr Jones moved for approval and Cllr Medeiros seconded. A separate administrative request to install a credit card machine in the town office was discussed and tabled until next month.
Mayor Scott and council members did not attach dollar totals to the roof authorization in the meeting record; staff were directed to proceed with the bid process so prices and contract terms can be returned to the council for approval. Cllr Deaderick said at the meeting that the council should avoid overstepping the town manager’s duties when managing such projects, which the record shows as his reason for opposing both motions.
