Snow Library reports rising visits, expanded "library of things" and new community offerings

Tabby, representing Snow Library, told the board the library had roughly 97,000 visitors in the last year and described holdings (about 57,000 print items and roughly 11,000 nonprint) and program activity (602 programs with roughly 15,000 program attendees annually).
Tabby highlighted new offerings: a seed library launched with the Orleans Agricultural Council (about 80 participants so far), a library of things with about 45 items (tools, a metal detector, a ukulele and other items), and upcoming items including a button maker, a Dremel kit and an induction stovetop inspired by a Climate Action Roadmap workshop.
Tabby said the library was contacted by the New York Times about its mushroom‑foraging kit for a story on libraries of things and noted a device‑advice program run with Cape Cod Tech. Youth programming includes a Dungeon & Dragons space and a life‑skills series for children.
In Q&A Tabby said digital borrowing is increasing but print circulation remains robust; large‑print holdings number in the "few hundreds" and are heavily circulated. The library is planning an electronic bulletin board in the vestibule and will host local historian and author events later this summer.
