Florence introduces Transportation Improvement District board nominees; Amy named project manager

City staff explained the board must consist of five voting members (Florence residents) and one nonvoting member appointed by the Boone County Planning Commission; positions will be staggered so no more than two terms expire in a year and initial terms will be four years after staggering. Nominees identified in council packets included Michael Bova, Jim Henning, Kalia Holland, John Nugent, Tammy Wilson and Tom Zirlinski.
Amy, the newly introduced project manager, outlined her public-sector experience, including overseeing HUD-related homelessness funding and administering $30 million- and $18 million-per-year catchment-area programs in Cincinnati and Dayton, respectively. She said staff have contracted traffic engineers from Strand to complete a traffic study to guide safety and congestion evaluations and that she has been engaging regional partners and OKI (Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana) transportation committees to prepare the board for an early workload.
Council praised the nominees and the staffing plan; no formal appointments were finalized at caucus and staggered terms will be set at the outset.
Next steps: staff will proceed with TID board formation, finalize staggered term lengths and bring formal appointments forward for council action.
