HOLLIS, Maine — At its July 22 meeting the Town of Hollis Planning Board discussed the need to update local ordinances in response to a state law change that the board said will take effect July 27, 2026, and the chair proposed a short workshop to move work forward.
The Chair told members the board needs to address “the state law pieces” and said the group will try to advance ordinance work so it can make the best use of SMPDC resources going forward. “I do wanna get on top of the state law pieces,” the Chair said during the meeting.
Board members agreed to schedule time for a workshop after the regular meeting to discuss potential ordinance changes and to coordinate with SMPDC, which had supplied land-use planning services materials to the board. The Chair said SMPDC will provide a written review of applications and it may not attend the upcoming Aug. 12 meeting in person.
The meeting did not specify the statutory citation for the state law change or the exact ordinance provisions that will be amended; the board said it will pursue the ordinance updates ahead of the effective date.
