Pawling board approves event permits, transfer-station change and tree-work bidding; solar grant discussion tabled

The Pawling Town Board on July 22 approved a slate of routine operational and event resolutions and postponed a decision on a state grant for a solar project pending vendor cost presentations.
The board approved Resolution 2026-145 to authorize Comcast business services for the teen center, Resolution 2026-147 to permit the Pawling Fire Department carnival and Resolution 2026-148 to permit the Pawling Community Foundation gala. The board also approved Resolution 2026-149 to temporarily accept storm debris at the transfer station and Resolution 2026-150 authorizing the highway superintendent to advertise for bids for tree work. Each of those items was introduced by the chair, seconded and approved by voice vote during the special meeting.
On the proposed NYSDEC Climate Smart Communities grant (Resolution 2026-146) for a solar panel project, board members said they want updated cost estimates and vendor presentations — including Wendell and the firms that previously proposed work — before committing to the project. The grant proposal, which participants said requires a 50/50 financial match, was discussed and tabled; the board agreed to revisit the item at its Aug. 12 meeting.
A council member urged that firms present current cost figures and clarify whether roofing or other work is included so the board can evaluate the town’s required match. The clerk will record follow-up items and the supervisor’s office has been asked to coordinate the vendors’ presentation for the August meeting.
The meeting ended after public comment and discussion about road-closure procedures connected to a film production; the board adjourned after passing the listed resolutions.
