Newry Select Board elects officers, approves FY2027 appointments and moves meeting time

At its July 7 meeting the Newry Select Board elected Virgil Conkright chair and Mandy Berry vice chair, approved FY2027 committee reappointments, allowed a staff vacation carryover and voted to move meetings to 4:30 p.m. for the next two months.
The Town of Newry Select Board elected Selectperson Virgil Conkright as chair and Selectperson Mandy Berry as vice chair during its July 7, 2026 meeting and approved several routine administrative items.
Selectperson David Bartlett moved to approve the minutes of the June 16, 2026 meeting; Selectperson Mandy Berry seconded and the board voted unanimously to approve the minutes. The board then approved FY2027 committee reappointments and annual appointments after a motion by Selectperson Mandy Berry, seconded by Selectperson David Bartlett.
On leadership, Selectperson David Bartlett moved to elect Selectperson Virgil Conkright as chair; Selectperson Mandy Berry seconded. Bartlett and Berry voted in favor and Conkright abstained. Bartlett later moved to elect Selectperson Mandy Berry as vice chair; Selectperson Virgil Conkright seconded. Conkright and Bartlett voted in favor and Berry abstained.
The board also approved several personnel and scheduling items. Selectperson Bartlett moved to allow Joelle to carry over nine hours of vacation time; Selectperson Berry seconded and the motion passed unanimously. At the end of the meeting the board voted unanimously to change its meeting start time to 4:30 p.m. for the next two months.
The meeting adjourned at 5:30 p.m. The next Select Board meeting is scheduled for July 21, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. at the Town Office.
