At its June meeting, the South Lyon Community Schools board approved recommendations to hire several instructional staff for the 2026-27 school year and granted a one-year childcare-leave extension to an employee.
Mr. Gaute presented the recommended hires: Bailey Bishop (Millennium Middle School), Adrianna Daponio (Brummer and Salem elementary schools), Chase Fisher (Centennial Middle School), Raymond Nowinski (South Lyon East High School), Gabriela Richmond and Gabriela Sasso (Millennium Middle School), and Marlena Walters (South Lyon High School). "Our recommendation is to approve the hiring of the instructional staff listed above as described," Mr. Gaute said. The board approved the hires by roll call, 6-0.
On a personnel leave matter, Mr. Batte presented a request that Jacqueline Zirlik, who had been on childcare leave for the 2025-26 school year, be granted a second and final year of childcare leave for 2026-27. The board moved and approved the request, also by roll call, 6-0.
Board members welcomed the new hires and thanked departing staff. The board recorded seven resignations in correspondence and offered thanks to those leaving. These personnel actions will be implemented through the district human-resources process.
