The Eastport City Council on June 17 approved the FY2027 budget as amended, adopting a total budget of $7,241,951.24 and allocating $4,155,962 for education, which results in a taxation amount of $4,195,757.18.
Councilor Colleen Dana-Cummings moved to approve the amended budget; Councilor A. J. Seeley seconded and the motion passed 4-0. The council also approved related fiscal adjustments: moving the December County TAN payment of $323,130.12 entirely from unassigned funds into the FY2027 plan, transferring $22,304 of unspent FY26 Local Roads and Projects (LRAP) funds into the Capital Fund to be assigned to road repair, and appropriating $60,000 from the Capital Fund for roadwork this year.
The budget vote concludes the council’s review of the operating and capital proposals for the coming fiscal year and sets property taxation and the schedule for real-estate tax interest (addressed in separate votes). Councilors present who voted in favor were Rhonda Stevens, A. J. Seeley, Colleen Dana-Cummings and Council President William Boone; the minutes record no recorded 'no' votes.
The council directed that the specified reallocations and appropriations be reflected in FY2027 accounting and moved forward with implementing road repairs using the transferred LRAP and Capital funds.
