After 4–4 tie, mayor breaks tie to elect Tanya Keyes as council president

Fairway City Council held an election for council president at its Jan. 12 meeting. Nathan (speaker 3) read the limited municipal code responsibilities for the council president — chiefly to preside over meetings in the mayor’s absence — and the body accepted nominations.
Joe (speaker 7) nominated Tanya Keyes (Ward 4). A second nomination was made for Kelly Busick (referred to elsewhere in the meeting as Kellyanne Busick). The roll call produced a 4–4 tie. Under the council’s procedures, the mayor then cast the deciding vote in favor of Tanya Keyes, and the mayor announced Keyes as council president for a two‑year term.
Council members congratulated Keyes. The election resolved leadership for the coming two years; no further procedural action was taken during the meeting.
