Jacksonville council authorizes DLCD housing planning grant for Urban Growth Boundary data

The Jacksonville City Council voted May 5 to authorize the city administrator to execute a Housing Planning Assistance grant agreement with the Oregon Department of Land Conservation and Development (DLCD) to support additional housing research and Urban Growth Boundary data collection.
Council President Andrea Thompson summarized the awarded grant and its purpose: to help pay for data collection required by the State’s UGB process. Councilors discussed the implications and confirmed that, should the grant not be approved, the city would have to find local funding to complete the necessary data work.
Councilor Hellenthal moved to authorize the City Administrator to execute the DLCD grant agreement; Councilor Reed seconded. A roll call vote recorded six ayes (Councilors Gregg, Casaleggio, Hellenthal, Reed, Jorgenson and President Thompson) and no nays. The motion carried and the administrator was authorized to sign the agreement.
The council did not attach conditions to the authorization at the meeting. Staff indicated the grant funds are intended for data collection tied to the state process; council and staff will proceed with the DLCD process and any required reporting to the state.
