Nathan (Administration and Finance representative) said the city currently has just over a dozen short-term rentals and enforces one of the more restrictive local frameworks in the region. He described requirements including a 1,000-foot separation between licensed rentals (licenses in buffer zones are automatically denied), an occupancy cap of two persons per bedroom plus one (with a maximum of eight guests), a prohibition on events or parties, and a ban on on-street parking for guests.
Nathan said the city maintains a public map showing existing licensed rentals and the 1,000-foot buffers so residents can determine whether a new application would be allowed. He also said licenses that predate the ordinance and sit closer than 1,000 feet to each other are grandfathered but are not transferable if ownership or use changes.
The council and staff encouraged anyone with additional questions to contact city hall for application help or to view the map online.
