During reports, Ryan Marquardt, executive director of the Madison County Development Group, said his office is rebuilding and overhauling its website, completed its 2026/2027 budget, is working with the Chamber of Commerce on pursuing AARP designation, and is monitoring a possible Winterset low‑to‑moderate‑income (LMI) project. Winterset/USW Wastewater Superintendent Nic Smith reported ongoing sewer‑main cleaning and successful patching and noted upcoming confined‑space training provided by IAMU in coordination with Parks & Recreation and the Street Department. Winterset Airport Board Chair Dave LaGrange and consultant Taylor Hopper (STRAND) were absent from the meeting.
Mayor Thomas J. Leners also reported progress on 8th Avenue construction. Council Member Christopher Fairholm asked staff to develop a sidewalk repair/installation/replacement plan that would outline how the project would begin, the bid process and a timeline for completion. The council adjourned at 7:39 p.m.
