Commission awards geotechnical-services contracts to UES for two bridge replacement designs

The Coffey County Commission approved the Road & Bridge superintendent’s recommendation to award professional geotechnical services for two bridge replacement projects to UES of Manhattan.
The county solicited three bids: UES ($18,896 for both bridges), Terracon (~$22,100) and PSI (~$28,000). Staff noted BG Engineering recommended the firms and that UES was the lowest responsive bidder. The motion to accept the UES bid and direct the Road & Bridge superintendent to sign contract documents passed unanimously; funds will be drawn from the special bridge fund.
Superintendent also reported recent asphalt and shoulder work completed on a previous project and said staff would adjust signage and barricades pending further work and permitting for a separate realignment discussed later in the meeting.
