The Pickens County Board of Commissioners approved two airport lease agreements recommended by staff and a set of memoranda of understanding to continue local transportation and emergency-evacuation arrangements.
Staff presented RFP results for four airport parcels and recommended top-scoring applicants for two leases. For parcel H18 staff materials list an applicant and proposed terms of 7,980 square feet at a rate transcribed as $77.75 per square foot, producing an annual rent shown in meeting materials as $5,009.85; the board voted to follow staff's recommendation and approved the lease. For hangar parcel H19 the board approved a lease to Helicopter Express LLC for 43,140 square feet at $0.75 per square foot for an annual rent of $32,355.
The board also approved a renewal MOU with North Georgia Community Action Agency to continue operating the MAT buses through 06/30/2027. Meeting materials list a local operating match of $218,000 (transcribed monthly figures contain numeric artifacts) and a capital match requirement of $13,800; North Georgia Community Action Agency will perform monthly accounting for the funds and the matches reflect GDOT-required local shares.
Separately the board approved an MOU with Mountain Head (Mountain) Charter School (recorded in the materials as "Mountain education") to designate the community center at Roper Park as a secondary emergency evacuation site used by the school in emergencies.
All three items were approved by voice vote with no opposition recorded.
