Council clears Buccaneer Jamfest alcohol permit and funds Salsa Saturday cultural event

The New Port Richey City Council approved two community event requests: an expedited special‑event alcohol permit for Buccaneer Jamfest and a $1,100 funding request for Salsa Saturday, a free Hispanic Heritage Month cultural celebration.
Staff told council the Buccaneer Jamfest application was submitted on Sept. 11 and that the city’s Special Events Team had reviewed the layout, beer tent location, and sales procedures; SET members reported no objections. Beth Frager of Main Street said a portion of beer‑sale proceeds will go to the Pasco Education Foundation for New Port Richey city schools. Council members supported the event as culturally relevant downtown activity and voted unanimously to approve the alcohol permit.
Separately, the Cultural Affairs Committee recommended a $1,100 allocation from the council’s cultural affairs budget line to hold Salsa Saturday on Sept. 27 at the City Hall Library outdoor complex. Committee members described planned dance lessons, live bolero music, family activities and a food truck; staff confirmed funds are available in account 44810810. Council approved that allocation unanimously.
Both approvals were explicit that standard permitting and operational requirements apply: the alcohol permit will include requirements for point‑of‑sale and service, and final placement of beer/wine service will be coordinated with SET and parks staff.
