Riverton board approves consent agenda, raises substitute pay and completes several personnel actions

The Riverton Unified School District #404 Board of Education on Oct. 9 approved routine business including the consent agenda, a $313,216.79 expenses report for September and a package of personnel actions.
Judy Adams moved to approve the consent agenda, and Jennifer Edwards seconded; the motion carried unanimously. The consent agenda included the Oct. 9 meeting agenda (with listed additions) and the minutes from the Sept. 11 meeting.
On personnel and compensation matters, the board moved several items. Matt Darnaby moved to increase substitute teacher pay to $125 per day effective Oct. 16, 2025; Jennifer Edwards seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The board accepted the resignation of full-time bus driver Josh Reed effective Oct. 15 (motion by Judy Adams, second by Jennifer Edwards). Gary Neal moved to hire Jesse Green as a full-time bus driver and to list Josh Reed as a substitute driver; Matt Darnaby seconded and the board approved the hires unanimously.
The board filled a supplemental coaching vacancy, hiring Jonathon Beck as the middle school girls basketball coach (motion by Matt Darnaby, second by Keeley Adams). The board also approved a salary adjustment raising Hank Owens’s pay for bus driving and mechanics assistant duties to $20 per hour (motion by Judy Adams, second by Matt Darnaby).
The board employed Bill Houser as the district’s certified water operator (motion by Matt Darnaby, second by Judy Adams) and then set his salary at $12,000 per year (motion by Keeley Adams, second by Judy Adams). Jennifer Edwards moved to accept two anonymous donations—one to food service student accounts and another toward an 18x13 retractable flag for the MPAC; Gary Neal seconded and both donations were approved unanimously.
All motions recorded in the minutes carried unanimously with board members present voting in the affirmative. The board adjourned at 7:46 p.m. and scheduled its next regular meeting for Thursday, Nov. 13 at 6:30 p.m. in the Board of Education Office.
