Anamosa City Council sets wages for city positions, OKs law-enforcement agreement and schedules water-plant hearing

The City Council of the City of Anamosa on Sept. 8 approved a package of personnel wage resolutions, authorized an intergovernmental law-enforcement agreement, approved a $16,150 equipment purchase for the wastewater plant and scheduled a public hearing on a water-treatment project.
Mayor Rod Smith presided over the meeting. Council member Rich Crump moved to approve the consent agenda; Council member Kay Smith seconded and the measure passed on a 5-0 roll call. Present were Council members Rich Crump, Kay Smith, Todd Weimer, Dan Smith and Brooke Gombert; Teresa Tuetken was absent. City Administrator Jeremiah Hoyt and City Clerk Kaylee Palmer were also in attendance.
The council adopted a series of resolutions setting wages for several city positions for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026: Resolution 2025-56 (full-time Streets Department Assistant Superintendent), Resolution 2025-57 (part-time Lawrence Community Center janitor), Resolution 2025-58 (full-time Streets Department laborer) and Resolutions 2025-59 and 2025-60 (two full-time police officer positions). Each resolution was approved by motion and recorded as carried on unanimous roll-call votes.
The council also approved Resolution 2025-61, setting Sept. 22, 2025, as the date for a public hearing on the Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Aerator Replacement Project. Council member Rich Crump moved the resolution and Council member Dan Smith seconded; the motion passed 5-0.
On intergovernmental matters, Council member Rich Crump moved and Council member Brooke Gombert seconded approval of a 28E Agreement for general law-enforcement services between the Jones County Sheriff and the City of Anamosa; the agreement was approved on a unanimous roll call. The council approved a purchase request for an Ebara replacement INF well pump for the Wastewater Treatment Plant, in the amount of $16,150.00, following a motion by Council member Dan Smith and a second by Council member Rich Crump.
The council also approved Consent Agenda pay requests totaling $9,513.80. City Administrator Jeremiah Hoyt reported he participated on a panel at a Kirkwood Center forum for smaller growing communities and described the event as successful. Mayor Smith opened the floor for public comment on non-agenda items; no members of the public spoke. The meeting adjourned at 6:48 P.M.
