The board moved to reschedule its October meeting to avoid overlapping with National Night Out and heard a slate of police outreach and community events planned for October and December.
Staff liaison Lily said National Night Out falls on Oct. 7, the same night as the board's scheduled meeting, and proposed Oct. 14 as an alternate date pending confirmation from Isabelle. "National Night Out is the same day as our meeting, which is October 7. So we need to change it," Lily said; members agreed in principle and asked staff to confirm availability.
Neighborhood Resource Officer Jessica Polanco outlined outreach programs the department will host: a Coffee with a Cop event on Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 8–9 a.m., a National Night Out celebration at Vogel Park on Oct. 7 from 6–8 p.m., and a December 'Breakfast with Santa' event (date to be set). Polanco encouraged residents to meet new officers and noted the agency has recently added new officers and specialized units. "We have a lot of new officers ... I really encourage everyone to come out," Polanco said.
Board members asked staff to confirm calendar changes with the clerk and to ensure schedule conflicts are minimized when posting future agendas.
