Onamia council approves equipment purchases, park work and routine resolutions

At its Sept. 10 meeting the Onamia City Council approved a slate of routine purchases and resolutions including technology upgrades for the police department, maintenance work for parks and equipment, and financial housekeeping.
The council approved purchasing vehicle and laptop equipment needed to support Prophoenix records software after staff reported current Toughbooks were inadequate; the vendor quote shown in the packet totaled $10,274.73 and the motion to purchase the listed items passed by council vote. The council also approved a CRYSTEEL Truck Equipment quote for $4,919 to repair a plow spreader and a Dave’s Excavating quote for $7,000 to remove rubber surfacing and install fabric and new mulch at Herington Park, which will be closed Sept. 15–26 for the work.
Public Works approved a quote to install a hydrant (Dave’s Excavating, $2,000) and a mag flow meter quote from R.C. Habeck for $4,610; additional labor and bypass costs were estimated by staff at $2,500 and $900 respectively, producing a staff estimate of roughly $8,600. The council approved installing the hydrant with an expenditure limit not to exceed $9,000.
On the finance side the council approved Resolution 2025-09C, which included returning $6,794.61 to Mille Lacs County for 2023–24 TIF reporting, and approved Resolution 2025-09B naming 2026 election judges. The council also approved a liquor license for Lacs Time Liquors and agreed not to waive the monetary limits on municipal liability established by Minn. §466.04. Finally, the council approved applying for an East Central Regional Arts Council (ECRAC) grant to support Onamia Days 2026.
