New Haven approves street closure for KY Railway Museum car show, notes grants and equipment fund

At its Oct. 17 special meeting the New Haven Board of Commissioners approved closing South First Street for the KY Railway Museum car show on Oct. 19 after a motion by Ruth Faulkner and a second by Lois Boley; the motion passed with all members voting in favor.
The board also approved the Sept. 19 meeting minutes and accepted the financial reports (motions and seconds recorded in the minutes). The minutes record unanimous votes on both routine items.
Mayor Linda Mattingly reported the city received a $1,500 liability grant from KLC tied to recent sidewalk work. The minutes also note the Rolling Fork Iron Horse Festival committee will donate $6,200 to community organizations this year, and that the city has $8,500 in an equipment fund that could be used toward replacing a mower purchased in 2010; the board asked staff to collect multiple quotes and return options at a future meeting.
The minutes list sidewalk replacement work on Main Street and South First Street costing $3,805.00 to address trip hazards. Nelson County Fiscal Court will provide bulky-item pickup for city residents on Nov. 25–26 as part of the county's annual service arrangement.
