Sean Gordon of Gordon CPA presented the independent auditor's report and said the firm issued an unmodified opinion on the city's 2024 financial statements, indicating the statements "present fairly in all material respects." Gordon walked the council through the management's discussion and analysis, the major financial statements and the notes, saying total assets were roughly $61 million, total liabilities about $11 million and net position nearly $51 million as of Dec. 31, 2024.
"We've issued the city the highest and cleanest auditor's opinion that we can issue," Gordon said, and added the audit included a statistical section with 10 years of trend data. He told the council the audit did not include recommendations to communicate to the mayor or council.
Mayor Michael Popa and council members congratulated staff for what the auditor described as strong financial and internal-control management. Gordon offered to answer questions on methods and the notes; none were raised by council members.
The council accepted the presentation and thanked staff for their stewardship of city finances.
