Council approves sanitary sewer Change Order #1, records net savings

Ken Hier of engineering firm IMEG spoke to the City of Bowdle council about sanitary sewer improvements and a series of changes affecting project cost. What had been estimated as an additional $84,000 in costs was revised during discussion to produce a net savings of $3,506.28; the council approved Change Order #1 in the amount of $(3,506.28) (motion by Darryn Barnhardt; second by Mike Gunderson).
Hier told council that preliminary work on the sewer improvements is anticipated to begin at the end of March or early April and that the project now includes the addition of a lift station. Because of the lift station, council members and staff advised residents not to flush wipes, diapers, towels or rags into the sewer system.
The minutes do not list individual line-item adjustments within the change order nor vendor-specific costs; the net savings figure is recorded in the council action.
