The Planning Board of the City of Pascagoula voted unanimously May 13 to recommend that City Council rezone 5301 Veterans Blvd from Regional Commercial (CC) to Light Industrial (LI) to accommodate the relocation and expansion of BioDek. The vote followed staff presentation and applicant remarks.
Chad Kepner, the city’s building official, told the board the rezoning request is suitable for the site given its access, infrastructure and adjacency to existing Light Industrial uses. Applicant Murray DuBourdieu said he acquired the business from his partner and is seeking more room to grow operations.
Board member Jared Ladner made the motion to approve; Beverly Cook seconded. The vote was 7–0 in favor, with Heather Wiggins, Jerry Jackson, Beverly Cook, Chris Hollis, Jared Ladner, Brian Hinkel and Jared Crocker recorded as voting “aye.” The Planning Board’s recommendation will be forwarded to the City Council for final action.
The board did not identify any public opposition at the hearing. The rezoning, if adopted by the council, would change the property’s allowable uses to those associated with Light Industrial zoning.
