Residents press council on camera transparency, police-reporting delays and boulevard safety

Dean Matheson described an incident in mid-June where he submitted a request for a police report, said six weeks had passed without receiving it and that city staff told him the request was a low priority. He said he had not heard back from the responding officer or the city manager and asked the city to investigate the delay.
Dan Fisher, chair of the Veterans Park Committee, reminded the council of a signed partnership agreement that lays out responsibilities for repairs and maintenance and asked that the agreement guide decisions on cost responsibility when damage occurs to park property.
Eileen Stever described a recent city mowing activity near her property in which a mower reportedly lost traction on a steep alley and nearly went over the curb into the street, stressing that safety—not precedent—should guide decisions about boulevard mowing in specific situations.
Council members and staff said they would look into the police-reporting timeline, follow up on the camera-location question and make time for individual residents to meet with staff about boulevard maintenance and other neighborhood concerns.
