Bowdle council authorizes fire pumper repairs and approves staff pay increases after executive session

During the public forum at the May 5 Bowdle City Council meeting, fire department representative Mike Kessel requested funding to repair the department pumper truck to meet insurance and ISO requirements. The council approved using the fire department fund within the general fund to make the repairs and said it will discuss surplussing the old pumper truck at a future meeting.
Later in the meeting the council entered executive session at 9:10 p.m. and exited at 9:23 p.m. After the session, councilmember Darryn Barnhardt moved to increase Rodney Schlecht’s hourly pay to $33.50 and Finance Officer Carrie Poirier’s pay to $26.75. The motion was seconded by Amber Shaykett and passed unanimously. The minutes record that the librarian’s pay increase will be determined by the Library Board within the discretion of the budget.
The council recorded the motions and votes in the meeting minutes; no dissenting votes were recorded.
