Bowdle — The Bowdle City Council voted Dec. 2 to temporarily supplement the Housing Redevelopment Commission (HRC) budget and to support the HRC’s effort to sell a city-owned 4-plex.
Tyler Beadle, representing the HRC, asked the council for a $1,050 monthly supplement because one of the two-bedroom units is vacant and the commission lacks funds to cover expenses. The HRC agreed to attempt to sell the 4-plex. Russ Maier moved, with Mike Gunderson seconding, that the HRC pursue sale of the complex; Rex Gab abstained and the remaining members voted yes. The council also approved a motion by Darryn Barnhardt, seconded by Gunderson, to supplement the HRC at $1,050 per month until the unit is filled or the 4-plex is sold; that motion passed unanimously. Council members stated the city expects reimbursement for past and future supplements from sale proceeds.
In separate action, the Library Board requested a budget line for donated funds and a short-term investment vehicle. The council approved creation of a '228 Library Gift Fund' and authorized opening a six-month certificate of deposit at CorTrust to hold donated funds for use in 2025.
What happens next: The HRC will pursue marketing and sale steps for the 4-plex and the finance officer will establish the library gift fund and CD as authorized.
