The Bowdle City Council completed its annual reorganization on May 5, 2025, administering oaths of office and confirming leadership and committee assignments.
Mayor Rick Boschee opened the reorganizational session at 8:05 p.m. and the Finance Officer administered oaths to Boschee and newly seated council members and officers. On nominations, Mike Gunderson was declared council President after a motion by Rex Gab and a second from Darryn Barnhardt; Rex Gab was declared Vice President after a nomination by Gunderson and a second by Barnhardt.
Mayor Boschee nominated Reed Rasmussen of Segal, Barnett and Shultz to serve as city attorney; the council approved the appointment on a motion by Darryn Barnhardt and second by Rex Gab, with all voting yes. The council also approved CorTrust, First State Bank of Roscoe (Bowdle branch) and Raymond James as city depositories and designated The Pride of the Prairie as the official city newspaper.
The mayor and council confirmed a lengthy set of committee and board appointments, including airport/buildings/streets, water/sewer/park, rubble site oversight, the library board and cemetery committee, as well as civil defense and health-related boards. The motion to accept the appointments carried unanimously.
The appointments set the council’s leadership and committee rosters for the coming terms. No votes opposing the slate were recorded; the oaths and appointment paperwork were noted as filed with the city office.
