County to present surplus property and equipment list; Expo Center water truck may be withdrawn

Finance director Sean Railway told the board the county will hold a public hearing on surplus assets that lists parcels and end-of-life equipment slated for disposal or sale.
"Some of the items that we've talked about previously on here are gonna be the Grama properties, the 3 residential properties on 1st Avenue, and then equipment that's been replaced from both ER and R and motor pool," Railway said, explaining the hearing will present the list and seek the board's surplus recommendation.
Staff said most surplus equipment will be sold through established channels — heavy gear to companies such as Ritchie Brothers and smaller items to local resellers — while surplus land parcels will be marketed through a real estate agent. Savannah, a county staff member who will present tomorrow, said surplus prices are set to market value rather than a special 'surplus' price.
Savannah also told commissioners the Expo Center's 1975 Ford water truck will be removed from the surplus list at the upcoming hearing because a local group wants to restore and reuse it for arena needs; she said the change will be made on the public hearing agenda if the board allows it.
The surplus resolution and individual listings will be presented at the scheduled public hearing and are subject to the board's approval.
