Lamar County board approves personnel slate and adds Student Services Coordinator for Sumrall High

The Lamar County School District Board of Education approved a slate of personnel actions and a new Student Services Coordinator position for Sumrall High School at its June 26 special meeting.
Board action covered non-certified resignations and transfers (for example, Angela Binkley’s resignation as administrative assistant/bookkeeper) and certified resignations and hires (examples include Carrie Aultman resigning as head softball coach and multiple certified recommendations and transfers listed in the agenda attachments). The board approved the personnel agenda by motion and recorded a unanimous 5–0 vote.
Dr. Patrick Gray, the district’s Secondary Assistant Superintendent, submitted a memorandum asking the board to add a Student Services Coordinator to the FY2027 salary scale specific to Sumrall High School. The memo says the position would provide services in attendance, behavior intervention, course performance monitoring, student advocacy and family engagement while allowing the current school counselor to continue duties required by the Mississippi Department of Education. The daily rate would be based on the 2027 teacher salary scale and the position would be for 206 days, the memo states. The board approved adding the position.
The board also approved a Student Services memo and other personnel recommendations on the agenda with unanimous votes; details of hires, transfers and effective dates are included in the meeting attachments and personnel sheets.
