Council authorizes publication of draft lift‑station ordinance to require regional sewer stations

Public Works Director Mitch Bradley told the council that an increasing number of new subdivisions have proposed individual lift stations, which would create long-term maintenance and budget burdens for the city. He said Keller Associates identified a central location on the west side of town suitable to serve future development.
Under the draft ordinance described by Bradley, the city would have authority to designate required regional stations and to structure latecomer agreements for proportional reimbursement. Councilwoman Melanie Allen moved to authorize publication of the draft; Councilwoman Tonya Hillman seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
