Post Falls board hires Mark Mason as new high school principal, approves calendar and directs bond refunding

Chair Uhrig called the Post Falls School District No. 273 board to order at 5:30 p.m. Monday and the board moved unanimously to approve the amended agenda.
Superintendent Dena Naccarato recommended Mark Mason for the principalship at Post Falls High School for the 2025–26 school year. On a motion by Trustee Creighton, seconded by Trustee Rodriguez, the board approved Mason’s hire by a unanimous aye vote.
The board also adopted the 2025–26 school year calendar on a motion by Vice Chair Rodriguez, seconded by Trustee Wagner. Both votes were recorded as unanimous.
Dena introduced Eric Herringer of Piper Sandler, who presented options for refinancing the district’s outstanding bonds. The board voted, on a motion by Trustee Creighton and seconded by Trustee Rodriguez, to authorize Herringer to proceed with the refunding process and to present a resolution for the board’s consideration at its April meeting.
During the meeting the board listed second readings for policy items including revised policy 306.2 (Assistant Principal Job Description) and new policies 407.1 (Employee Standards of Conduct) and 407.2 (Report of Criminal Offense); those policy items remain under consideration for future action.
The board entered executive session at 6:58 p.m. under Idaho Code 74‑206(1)(b) for personnel discussions and returned to public session at 7:47 p.m. Following the closed session, on motions that passed unanimously, trustees rehired the Special Education Director for one year and extended the Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Programs’ contract for one year.
The meeting adjourned at 7:49 p.m.
The board’s next budget‑related public meeting—the Annual Budget Prioritization meeting—is scheduled for April 15, 8–10 a.m. in the Post Falls High School commons; staff asked trustees to notify the clerk, Kerri Zeller, if they plan to attend so a quorum notice can be posted.
