Ione Hansen presented Ordinance No. 2026-660 at the March 19 Rigby City Council meeting. The ordinance would authorize Jefferson County to administer building, mechanical (HVAC), plumbing and electrical permitting and inspection services within the City. Hansen provided the ordinance document as supplied by Jefferson County.
No members of the public spoke during the public hearing. During council discussion members raised concerns about spelling errors in the ordinance as presented and characterized the text as lengthy; they agreed there was no urgency to adopt the measure immediately and that additional public review was appropriate. Councilman Reed Stone moved to read the ordinance in title and summary only and to not waive future readings; Councilman Alex Espinosa seconded the motion. The minutes do not record a final adoption vote or indicate the timing of any subsequent reading.
The council did not adopt Ordinance No. 2026-660 on March 19; the record reflects presentation, discussion and a motion to limit the reading to title and summary while preserving later readings for final consideration.
