Nichole Weight sworn in as Rigby mayor; three councilmembers take oaths

At the Jan. 15 Rigby City Council meeting, Nichole Weight was sworn in as mayor and administered oaths to two newly elected councilmembers. The council also recognized outgoing members and set liaison assignments for the new term.
Nichole Weight was sworn in as mayor of Rigby at the City Council meeting on Jan. 15, 2025. The oath was administered by Mayor Datwyler; after completing the oath, Nichole Weight assumed the mayoral chair and immediately administered oaths to newly seated councilmembers.
Mayor Datwyler presented a recognition plaque to outgoing Councilman Mike Wilder and thanked Councilwoman Harrison for her service, noting she could not attend. Following the swearing, Mayor Weight administered the oath of office to Councilman Alex Espinosa and to Councilwoman Allen, both of whom took their seats at the dais.
Later in the meeting, Mayor Weight recommended Councilman Timothy Howe serve as council president; Councilwoman Tonya Hillman moved to appoint Howe, and the motion passed. Mayor Weight also announced council liaison assignments, naming members to oversee finance, library, police, public works, planning and zoning, the museum, airport, rodeo, parks and recreation, IT and the senior center.
The meeting record shows the council adjourned after completing the evening's business.
