Murray trustees approve permits, licenses and preliminary replat; budget workshop held

The Village of Murray Board of Trustees met July 14 in the Murray Municipal Building and approved a series of routine and land-use items, including building permits, liquor licenses and a preliminary replat, and held a budget workshop for the 2026–2027 fiscal year.
Trustee Lea Bartlett moved and Trustee Zach Schroeder seconded approval of the consent agenda, which included the June 9, 2026, regular meeting minutes, acknowledgement of the treasurer’s report and revised claims, wages and payroll taxes; Trustees George Blessing, Stan Flak, Schroeder, Bartlett and Chairman Jeff Anderson voted aye and the motion carried.
The board laid over a building permit application from Amy E. Kimmet, 110 N. Park Ave., so the applicant can provide additional measurements and information about the patio’s placement relative to the sidewalk and the village right-of-way. Separately, Trustee Zach Schroeder declared a conflict of interest and abstained from a vote to approve a pole barn and fence permit for Amber and Zach Schroeder at 723 E. Main St.; Trustees Blessing, Flak, Bartlett and Chairman Anderson voted to approve the permit.
Trustees approved a Special Designated Liquor License for The Murray Bar LLC to serve alcohol at a youth wrestling tournament at Young Memorial Park on July 25, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. The board also held and closed a public hearing on a Class M Bottle Club liquor license application from R & C Projects LLC doing business as Off Course, 100 E. Main St.; with no public comment, the board adopted Resolution 26-05 to approve the license with a unanimous vote.
After a brief public hearing with no public comment, the trustees approved a preliminary replat for Sunrise Village, an addition to the Village of Murray, in a motion requested by applicant Whitney VanWinkle. The board also approved an administrative subdivision to combine parcel #130392188 into Tax Lot 33 (Revised) on behalf of the Murray Rural Fire Protection District at 818 E. Main St.
Trustees adopted Resolution 26-06 to renew the League Association of Risk Management (LARM) agreement for 2026–2027 using the three-year, 5% discount option. The board noted a budget workshop for the coming fiscal year and adjourned at 8:12 p.m. The clerk’s published claims list shows a claims total of $41,552.03.
