Commission ratifies $15,640 repair after compressor failure at wastewater facility

After a mid‑July compressor failure in the dissolved‑oxygen room, staff sought and received ratification of a $15,640.11 payment to Air Capital Equipment for repairs and service, officials said.
City staff told the commission that in early July a compressor (Compressor 3) at the wastewater facility's dissolved oxygen room experienced a failure that required more extensive repairs than first estimated. Jeff Shamlai said he authorized work after consulting with staff because the repairs were time‑sensitive, and the invoice from Air Capital Equipment totaled $15,640.11.
"We are looking for approval and ratification for the $15,640.11 for the repair and or service of 3 compressors for the dissolved oxygen system," Shamlai said. The commission moved, seconded and ratified the payment by voice vote.
Shamlai told commissioners the department plans to begin parting and servicing some components in house in the future when possible to limit outside warranty‑exhausted service calls.
