Pratt Commission approves airport authority mill levy request after update on recent airport projects

Airport authority member Kelly Garretson briefed the Pratt City Commission on airport operations and capital work and commissioners approved the airport authority's mill levy request.
Garretson said the authority completed a milling and overlay project around taxi lanes and the terminal, expanded parking and resurfaced apron areas using a combination of KDOT and federal grant funding totaling about $1.7 million. She also said the airport secured an approximately $85,000 KDOT grant for an updated master plan and that runway lighting and guidance system replacement is scheduled for 2026. "It looks much better," Garretson said of the recently completed work.
Garretson noted commercial hangars are nearly full with 28 tenants and one 10,000‑square‑foot building available for rent or sale; the airport also expects a change in the farm tenant for property surrounding the field.
A commissioner moved and seconded to approve the airport authority mill levy request as presented. The motion passed on a voice vote.
