Judiciary panel also advances expungement bill, defers one elections bill and recommits another

Mr. Weeks reported House Bill 3184, which would raise the maximum penalty for crimes eligible for expungement from $500 or 30 days in jail to $1,000 — expanding the set of offenses that could be expunged. The committee gave H.3184 a favorable report.
On election-related matters, Mr. Clemens asked that debate on House Bill 3176 be adjourned to allow the committee to receive further comments; the committee agreed to adjourn debate on H.3176 until its next agenda. Clemens also said several individuals and groups requested reconvening a subcommittee on H.3197; the committee voted to recommit H.3197 to the elections and ethics law subcommittee for one more hearing.
With those actions completed, the chair adjourned the committee.
