Post Falls School Board votes to place supplemental levy on ballot

The Post Falls School District No. 273 Board of Trustees voted unanimously Feb. 10 to adopt Resolution 25-01, calling for a supplemental levy election.

Superintendent Dena Naccarato introduced the resolution. Trustee Jake Dawson moved to adopt Resolution 25-01 and Trustee Paul Wagner seconded; the motion passed on a unanimous aye vote with Vice Chair Sara Rodriguez and Trustees Logan Creighton, Paul Wagner and Jake Dawson voting in favor. Chair Neil Uhrig was absent.

Chief Financial Officer Josh Gittel reported the district’s ESSER audit returned without findings and said facility funds the district receives are intended for capital improvements and are structured to support districts for roughly 10 years. Gittel said the district received its first facility payment in October and expects a second payment by the end of February; the state has reported an $86 million bonding surplus but has not disclosed how much of that surplus, if any, will be included in the February payment.

Gittel also reported student meal debt declined from roughly $50,000 at the start of the year to about $36,000–$37,000, crediting the Food Service team’s work.

The board did not specify the levy rate or ballot timing in public discussion; Resolution 25-01 was presented for formal adoption only. The board also discussed related budget planning items during the meeting and scheduled the annual budget meeting for April 15, 8–10 a.m. in the Post Falls High School commons.

The board recessed for an executive session later in the meeting under Idaho Code 74-206(1)(b) to discuss an employee and a student, and adjourned at 6:38 p.m.
