The Hesston Land Bank voted Aug. 12 to publish its proposed 2025 budget and set a public hearing for Sept. 9, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. Trustee Larry Fuqua moved to approve the publication and hearing date; Trustee Clare Moore seconded and the motion carried 5-0.
The meeting convened at 6:56 p.m. in the Hesston City Council Chambers with Chairman David Kauffman presiding and a quorum of trustees present. Earlier on the agenda, Trustee Susan Swartzendruber moved to approve the Land Bank minutes of Sept. 11, 2023; Trustee Brad Unruh seconded and the motion carried 5-0.
The Land Bank entered session after a motion by Trustee Larry Fuqua to recess the regular City Council meeting and convene the Land Bank, seconded by Trustee Susan Swartzendruber; that motion also carried 5-0. At 7:00 p.m., Trustee Michael Wallace moved to adjourn the Land Bank meeting and reconvene the Hesston City Council. Trustee Brad Unruh seconded; the motion carried 5-0. The action to publish the budget begins the public-notice phase and schedules the hearing where the Land Bank will take public comment on the proposed 2025 budget on Sept. 9 at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers.
