Priest River council renames Main Street Park for Dan Eskelson, authorizes playground fundraising and park planning

Council unanimously renamed Main Street Park to "Dan Eskelson Park," authorized fundraising and start of efforts for the City Park playground, approved a forest management plan for Two Rivers Park and approved bidding for a Two Rivers Park stormwater project; Candy Turner was appointed to the Priest River Urban Renewal Agency.
The Priest River City Council voted on several community and parks items at its Sept. 16 meeting.
The council approved a motion to rename Main Street Park to "Dan Eskelson Park." During the meeting Anne Wilder-Chamberlain spoke during public comment and thanked the city for honoring Dan Eskelson with the renaming. Council also authorized a fundraising letter and the start of fundraising efforts for City Park playground improvements after a presentation by Daisy Schneider.
The council approved moving forward with the Partners for Fish & Wildlife preparing a Forest Management Plan for Two Rivers Park, and authorized the Priest River Urban Renewal Agency to proceed with bidding a Two Rivers Park stormwater project; both motions passed unanimously. Council Member Mullaley moved to appoint Candy Turner to the Priest River Urban Renewal Agency; the motion passed with three ayes and one abstention (Candy Turner abstained from the vote). These actions advance community park improvements, ecosystem planning for Two Rivers Park and local stormwater work.
