Priest River council adopts amended FY24 budget, reallocates federal recovery funds to water projects

The budget amendment specifically records water service connection fees of $83,417, a prior-year water fund carryover of $95,920, a $20,000 meter replacement reserve transfer, a $4,848 water capital reserve transfer and $25,815 reallocated recovery funds directed to the raw water intake extension and meter replacement projects. Sewer-related entries include $99,687 in sewer service connection fees, a prior-year sewer carryover of $50,260 and a sewer capital reserve transfer of $105,053 to fund the Larch Street sewer main replacement and a sludge bin roof at the sewer treatment plant.
Council Member Mullaley asked for clarification about the meter replacement process during the hearing; Mayor Jeff Connolly answered. Anne Wilder-Chamberlain, a resident, asked questions about ending budget amounts during the public testimony period; Mayor Connolly addressed her questions before closing testimony. After discussion, Council Member Brower moved to adopt Ordinance 638 under suspension of the rules; Council Member Turner seconded and the motion passed unanimously (Council Members Turner, Brower, Mullaley and Wagner).
