Charles Lawrence, representing the Cook operation, told the board the pit is small and produces limited sales, with most materials used by Cook logging sites. "The bond is about ensuring the reclaiming of the land, and this pit is very small," Lawrence said during the discussion of bonding requirements.
The Land Use Administrator said the board received a letter from the state indicating the operation is exempt from an Alteration of Terrain (AOT) permit because it existed before the regulation's effective date of May 4, 1981. The board agreed the town will treat the matter as a new local application rather than a renewal; Lawrence said he would present an application and updated map at the next meeting.
Board members discussed bonding but did not set a formal bond requirement at the meeting; Todd Kilanski said he did not think a bond was necessary. The minutes record agreement that the applicant must file a new application and updated maps.
