Camille Lavon, director of Allen County Economic Development, asked the Humboldt City Council on Jan. 12 to increase the city—s annual contribution (the council has budgeted $17,000 in prior years) and said the organization needs additional funding to support another full-time employee.
Lavon requested an additional $15,000 from the city; Councilmember Blake McDaniel moved to add $8,000 (bringing the city—s payment to $25,000 annually), and Councilmember Staci Johnson seconded. The motion carried unanimously.
The council did not debate alternate funding levels on the record beyond the request and the motion that passed. The additional funds are intended to help support expanded economic development staff capacity in Allen County.
