Hoyt council authorizes moving forward with KDHE loan process for lead service-line replacement

The Hoyt City Council voted to move forward with the loan process for replacing identified lead service lines after discussion of a pre-approval letter from KDHE. Leonard Allen made the motion to notify KDHE that the city will pursue the loan; Larry Valdez seconded and the motion carried.
Garrett Nordstrom discussed the KDHE pre-approval and described loan procedures; he said he would examine the process further and notify the city about next steps. Earlier in the meeting Lee Hendricks and Nordstrom reviewed the KDHE correspondence and identified the need for staff follow-up on implementation details.
The council did not set a construction schedule or identify a specific financing amount during the Sept. 3 meeting. Staff will return with additional information about loan terms and the steps required to begin replacement work.
