Hunter council OKs 75 goodie bags for Santa visit, cancels lighting contest

Hunter — At its Dec. 2, 2024 meeting, the City of Hunter Council voted to prepare 75 goodie bags for the city's Santa visit and to cancel the annual lighting contest for this year.
Council member Ashley Schneider moved to assemble 75 bags of goodies and to forego the lighting contest; Council member Chad Hauser seconded and the motion was recorded as carried. The motion establishes the event plan for the current holiday season and directs staff to prepare the items.
Also during routine reports Mayor Brad Nitsch noted community room receipts of $200 in October and $400 in November and said he would meet with the Hunter Economic Board to discuss the community room's new owner and the city's expectations for the facility. The council did not specify a budget amount for the Santa bags at the meeting; logistics and preparation were assigned to the clerk or appropriate staff.
Copies of recent ordinances and oaths requested by guest Matt Schroeder were provided to him after the meeting, minutes show. The council adjourned after wrapping up the agenda.
